Chuck never imagined that his life would turn into anything unusual.

When the story begins, he is simply waiting in a processing facility along with many other animals. That is where he meets Veal, a young calf who cannot stop worrying about where his mother might be. The situation looks bleak for both of them. Then chaos erupts.

An explosion suddenly shakes the entire facility. Animals scatter everywhere, fences collapse, and confusion spreads across the yard. Chuck sees the opportunity and makes a decision quickly. He refuses to leave Veal behind and helps the frightened calf escape with him.

Within moments, they are running.

Unfortunately, their escape does not go unnoticed. Sheriff Floyd, who has been promised a reward for bringing the cattle back, becomes determined to capture them. The problem is that his plans rarely work the way he hopes.

As Chuck and Veal continue their journey, they begin meeting other animals who gradually join their strange adventure. Each new character brings something unexpected to the group, sometimes helpful and sometimes chaotic.

While the animals focus on staying one step ahead of the sheriff, something unusual begins to unfold around them. Forces far beyond their understanding seem to have taken an interest in their journey.

Before long, Chuck finds himself placed into a role he never imagined.
